RULES OF MEMBERSHIP TO “BGC”

There are two kinds of membership to the association: Full membership and honorary membership.

01. Full members: Journalists, either working as a permanent or contractual journalist, who assume duties such as regularly transmitting, creating and receiving of news or expressing ideas in the press media or in broadcasting, electronic broadcasting or television daily or continuously, and journalists who really depend on this business for living, and journalists whose position towards those laws being applicable to its place of work is consistent.

Anyone who has been employed by any press media or who has practiced duties described as “journalism” by the Directorate General of Press and Information for a period of one year time, including natural and legal persons, can become a full member to the Association by applying in writing, provided that they fulfill the conditions under article 5 hereof.

02. Honorary members: Anyone who does not fulfill the criteria of full membership, but financially or morally supports both press business and society can become an “honorary member” to the Association by Board resolution without resort.

In addition, anyone who depends on only journalism and royalty payments for living for a period of at least one year time, and others who can prove that they worked in various departments of press institutions can become honorary members to the Association, provided that they fulfill the conditions under article 5 hereof.

The number of honorary members may not exceed the number of full members. Honorary members do not have the right to vote.  Anyone who becomes a honorary member to the Association because of his/her financial or moral support to the press business can pay their membership fees as they please.

Rules of becoming full members:

To become a full member to the Association, the following criteria have to be fulfilled:

01. to become a natural or legal person who has virtual qualifications;

02. not to have a disreputable identity which is incompatible with professional ethics;

03. not to be engaged in businesses which are in contrast to the mission and/or the rules of the Association.

04. to become a journalist who worked for a period of at least one year time under those conditions which are stipulated by the Press Labour Law and/or to bear the yellow press card and/or to become an insured press member who  qualifies conditions to carry the press card defined under the yellow press card regulations.

05. not to act against professional ethics which are nationally and internationally recognized.
